Getting started

Can you use Xiaodao without signing up?

Yes. You can view every page, and open results that others share with you.

Starting a reading, creating a Bazi profile, answering Daily Insight, topping up and becoming a member need an account. A sign-in box pops up when you get there, and you come back to the same page after signing in.

Sign up and get 200 DP right away, and 200 more every month. That's enough to give it a try.

How do you sign up and sign in?

Use the sign-in button at the top of the page, then choose email or Google.

If you forget your password, sign in with a code instead. It's sent to your email and is valid for 10 minutes.

Is there an English version?

Yes. The site comes in Chinese and English. Switch in "Language and site".

Reports and results use only the interface language selected when they are generated.

Why is it called the international site?

People in mainland China and elsewhere all use this site, the international site. It has both Chinese and English interfaces, with the same features for everyone.

Can you add Xiaodao to your phone's home screen?

Yes. Go to My Account → On this device and follow the steps.

Bazi profiles

What is Bazi?

Bazi (八字, "eight characters") is the Four Pillars set out from the year, month, day and hour of birth. Each pillar has one Stem and one Branch, eight characters in all.

Xiaodao calculates a Bazi from the birth date, time and birthplace, using true solar time.

Once you create a Bazi profile, you can view its Bazi chart: the Stem, Branch, Hidden Stems, Na Yin, Shen Sha and more for each pillar. You can also go down from the Luck Pillars through the annual, monthly and daily layers.

Viewing the chart costs no Dao Points.

Bazi Report, Q&A, Daily Fortune, With Bazi and One-tap MBTI all start from this Bazi.

Can you use Xiaodao without an exact birth time?

Enter the birth time to the minute.

If you only know the Four Pillars, choose "Pillars" under "Calendar". Enter the year, month, day and hour pillars, then choose one of the matching time periods.

A profile like this has only the Four Pillars, so Bazi Report, Q&A, Daily Fortune, With Bazi and One-tap MBTI aren't available for it.

How do you enter details for someone born outside China?

For the birthplace, choose "Elsewhere", then "Country" and "City". You can also use "Search birthplace" directly.

Enter the local clock time at the birthplace at the time of birth. Daylight saving is applied automatically, following the rules at the birthplace back then.

The chart uses true solar time, worked out from the birthplace.

What if a birth time is near the boundary between two traditional hours?

If a birth time is near a boundary between traditional hours, Day Pillars or solar terms, you'll see a prompt when creating the profile. You choose which side to use for the chart.

Can you edit a profile after creating it?

For now, you can't edit a profile once it's created. Please check the details before entering them.

Reports and Q&A

How long does a report take? Can you leave the page?

The whole process takes about half an hour for Stable and about an hour for Preview.

You can leave the page. You'll get a message on the site when it's ready. If you selected "Email me when it's ready", you'll also get an email.

Can you cancel halfway? Will you get your Dao Points back?

You can cancel while a result is being generated, except for Q&A.

Dao Points are charged only when the result is completed successfully. If you cancel or it fails, the Dao Points return to their original batch.

Can you export or share a report?

Not at the moment. Only you can see the Bazi Reports and Q&A answers in your account, when you're signed in.

Results from Everyday Delights, Daily Fortune and Meeting can be saved as share cards.

Can you type your own question in Q&A?

No. Choose one option each for the topic, "What you want to explore" and the time range. The answer is based on that Bazi report.

How is a report written?

A program calculates the chart using true solar time. A model reasons from the chart and writes the report, then checks it again.

Dao Points and payment

How long do Dao Points last?

Dao Points never expire.

How can you pay?

We currently accept cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Link.

If your prices are in Chinese yuan, you can also use Alipay to buy Dao Points or a one-month membership.

How do you turn off automatic membership renewal?

Renews monthly. Cancel anytime in My Account → Manage subscription; your benefits continue until the end of the current period.

A one-month membership paid with Alipay doesn't renew. It simply ends when the month is up.

How do you request a refund?

Within 7 days of paying for a Dao Points pack, you can request a full refund if none of its points have been used. Membership fees are not refunded for unused days.

Account and privacy

Will anyone else see the birth details you enter?

Share cards and share links show only the result, with no name, birth details or email.

Your data is stored in Singapore, hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS).

When content is generated, the model receives the profile's gender, birth time, Bazi, Luck Pillars, annual influences and name. It does not receive your email or account. Bazi Reports and Bazi Q&A also include the birthplace, down to city level only.

We don't sell or rent your data, and we don't run third-party ads.

How do you delete your account and data?

Go to My Account → Data & account deletion → Delete account and data.

Deletion takes effect right away. Your account, Bazi profiles, reports and Dao Points are deleted together. This can't be undone.

A membership that's set to renew is cancelled too, and the rest of the current period and its Dao Points are forfeited without a refund.

A membership started through the App Store isn't cancelled when you delete your account. Please cancel it first.

Payment records are kept separately for 7 years, without your account, email or name.

You can also delete just one Bazi profile. Its report, Q&A answers and Everyday Delights results are deleted with it.
